Food Sensitivity Testing - It Takes Guts to Take Care of Your Guts!
Your diet and nutrition are the cornerstones of your optimal wellness – celebrate your body and understand it with food sensitivity testing that gives you insight on what can create a healthy balance for your own needs!
Food can be both your most powerful medicine and the catalyst for your sickness, which is why it’s essential to understand what foods will make you thrive and which ones will make you feel less than stellar.
Every individual has a unique biochemical requirement for the right amount of nutrients to obtain to feel their best. If you have been experiencing reduced energy, interrupted sleeping patterns and consistent bloating, Caviar Skin Clinic offers professional food allergy testing to get you back to your active lifestyle. Beyond the initial visit, your Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Amy, will continue to investigate your health and come up with a future and follow-up.
What causes food allergies?
Under ideal conditions, we would only eat the food that our body can break down through digestion, absorbing the nutrients and vitamins, and having a healthy bowel movement to eliminate the rest.
However, because the stomach is a highly complicated system that is lined with lymph tissue, your gut can be the reason for inflammation. If you are unknowingly ingesting the foods that you are sensitive to, you may be exposed to chronic inflammation.
As with every other condition, there will be various causes of your food allergies.
Generally, most food allergies are genetic, though most of the time you might not be allergic to the same allergen as your parents or grandparents. Other food intolerance reactions can be a result of the following:
- Over consumption of certain foods
- Genetically modified nutrition
- Rapid food introduction or delayed food introduction to infants

What are some signs that you have possible food sensitivities?

Signs and symptoms of possible food sensitivity include:
- Frequent trips to the bathroom
- Bloating and discomfort after meals
- Skin reactions (acne, psoriasis, eczema)
- Unexplained joint pain
- Constipation and irregular bowel movements
- Chronic fatigue
- Underactive thyroid
- Headaches or migraines
- Mood imbalances
- Autoimmune conditions
How do you test for food sensitivities?
When the foods we eat create an adverse reaction in our bodies, our whole biological balance is disturbed. The immune system, along with our digestive tract, almost immediately becomes activated which may result in allergic reactions, inflammation and, in some cases, autoimmune conditions.
Testing for food sensitivities, or food ‘allergies’ can be performed with a ‘scratch skin test’, which will reveal the individual’s intolerance to certain foods.
Small amounts of potential allergen are injected under the skin and any inflammation or swelling is observed. Through the skin scratch test, Dr. Amy can identify any digestible substances that may be harmful to your immune system. Knowing which foods you may be sensitive to, and eliminating these from the diet, will lower your inflammation response and allow your body to heal.
Once these reactions have been identified, a treatment plan can be created with a healthy food selection, digestive aids including digestive enzymes and herbal medicine minerals which can eliminate the toxins from your body. We are always available to answer your questions and concerns you may have during your consultation.
At Caviar Skin Clinic, we understand that every body is different - literally.
We can work with you to create a customized plan to help you understand your different reactions and how your body’s sensitivities may change over time. Maintaining good health is a goal we have to work towards daily, and that includes listening to it when something is not right.
Our Naturopathic services can provide you with extensive questioning, necessary physical exams and testing to develop a treatment plan for your food sensitivities.
